What can you say about the recent terrorist attack on Ohio State University’s campus that hasn’t already been said about a terrorist attack fueled by radical Islamic extremism? It seems like every few weeks we have the same conversation and the Regressive Left goes to the same lengths in order to push back the idea that Muslims never do anything wrong because the religion they follow is so peaceful and great that it prevents such a thing from ever happening.
Those of us in the real world see that there are a lot of problems with this line of thinking and we are more than happy to reject them in pursuit of the truth. After the attack at OSU, it was immediately revealed that the knife-wielding terrorist was a Muslim who had written a long post on Facebook explaining that his motive for doing what he was about to do had everything to do with ISIS and appeasing the religion of Islam.
In spite of this evidence, the mainstream media played dumb and made claims that there was no way to know what the motive was — even though it was spelled out right in front of them. Even worse for them? The student had even complained about the lack of prayer rooms on campus…
In an interview with OSU’s newspaper The Lantern, the attacker, Abdul Razak Ali Artan, stated, “I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen. But, I don’t blame them. It’s the media that put that picture in their heads so they’re going to just have it and it, it’s going to make them feel uncomfortable. I was kind of scared right now. But I just did it. I relied on God. I went over to the corner and just prayed.”
Perhaps the most ironic thing about this entire sad situation is the fact that Artan, a young man who wanted nothing more than for Muslims to be seen as peaceful people, committed an act of violence that will do nothing but empower the belief that Muslims are not peaceful. This does nothing but fuel the fire between radical Islam and the rest of the world.
While the Regressive Left has already begun trying to paint Artan as an empathetic figure, make no mistake about it — he is radical Islam personified.
