While the most disgusting aspect of the Orlando nightclub shooting — where Islamic terrorist Omar Mateen gunned down fifty innocent members of the LGBT community — was that dozens of people lost their lives in a senseless act of violence, the second most disgusting aspect was how members of the Regressive Left responded to the event.
A horrific assault on the LGBT community — at the hands of a radical Islamist — can’t be addressed for what it is because liberals are too scared of looking “Islamophobic.” To those of us who were paying attention, it was clear that the Regressive Left viewed Muslims as a species of people who were beyond criticism for whatever reason, but we never expected that they would betray the gay populous by choosing the feelings of Islamic terrorists over the lives of gay men and women.
Gay conservative pundit Milo Yiannopoulos writes that while conservatives may not have been historically welcoming of the LGBT community, “they aren’t going to kill us or put us in camps. Only Islam would do that — the same Islam that, bizarrely, now stands at the top of the left’s hierarchy of victimhood.”
He makes an excellent point. Instead of placing the blame on radical Islamic terrorism, the likes of President Obama instead blamed the NRA and guns themselves. Someone remind me: when was the last time the NRA shot up a gay nightclub, accounting for the largest mass shooting in United States history? Because we all know when the last time a radical Muslim did, and we won’t forget it any time soon.
It’s time for us members of the LGBT community to stand up against the violence perpetrated by radical Islam and begin to support the politicians who actually support us. While certain members of the Republican Party still have a long way to go in regards to being LGBT-friendly, they’re not throwing us to the wolves like the Left has.
And we’ve noticed.
